1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) and any other document referred to in it sets out how C-Ride (“C-Ride”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, stores and otherwise processes your Personal Data when you access or use our web portal, mobile application, and any related on-demand services (together, the “Platform”).
C-Ride operates a marketplace platform that connects customers with independent service partners to deliver premium on-demand services, including transport, delivery and related concierge-style services booked through the Platform. We recommend that you read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand how we treat your Personal Data.

2. Consent
By creating an account, submitting your Personal Data, or clicking “Okay” / “I Agree”, you consent to us collecting, storing, processing and using your Personal Data as described in this Policy and to the extent permitted by the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and its subsidiary regulations.
You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to any processing already lawfully carried out and any processing we are required or permitted to continue for legal, safety or contractual reasons (for example, completing an order already in progress, or retaining records required by law).
Personal Data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual, including your name, address, phone number, email address, government-issued ID, payment details, location data and any other information of a similar nature.
3. Personal Data We Collect
Account and profile information
Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, delivery/pickup addresses, profile photo, and government-issued identification where required for verification, for example to verify service partners including Vendors and Drivers or to comply with know-your-customer requirements.
Location data
Real-time and historical GPS location from your device while the app is in use and, where you have enabled it, while running in the background, pickup and drop-off points, and route data, used to match you with service partners, calculate fares, and ensure trip/delivery safety.
Order and trip data
Details of bookings, trips, deliveries or services requested, order history, ratings and reviews you give or receive, and in-app messages or call logs between customers and service partners. Calls may be routed through a masked number.
Payment information
Card details, bank account information, mobile wallet identifiers and transaction history. Card and bank details are collected and processed by our licensed third-party payment processors; C-Ride does not store full card numbers on its own servers.
Device and technical data
IP address, device identifiers, device model and operating system, mobile network information, app version, crash logs and diagnostic data.
Usage data
Pages and features viewed, search and booking activity, click-stream data, referral source, session duration, and interactions with customer support, including support tickets and chat transcripts.
Information from other sources
Information we receive from identity-verification providers, payment processors, mapping and location partners, marketing partners, or publicly available sources, which we may combine with the data described above.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies, SDKs and similar technologies on our website and mobile application to recognise you, remember your preferences, keep you logged in, measure app performance, and deliver more relevant content.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and manage app-level tracking such as location permissions and push notifications through your device settings. Restricting these may limit certain Platform features, such as real-time trip tracking.

5. How We Use Your Personal Data
We use your Personal Data to:
- create and manage your account and verify your identity;
- match you with service partners, process orders, calculate fares and process payments;
- provide real-time trip/order tracking and enable communication between you and your service partner;
- provide customer support and respond to enquiries, complaints or disputes;
- monitor safety, detect fraud, and investigate incidents involving the Platform;
- send order confirmations, receipts, service updates and, where you have opted in, promotional communications;
- provide reports to our vendors to enable them to serve you better;
- let you know about products and services from third-party providers that we believe may interest you, including offers and discounts we have specially negotiated for our customers;
- improve and personalise the Platform, and carry out analytics, testing and research; and
- comply with applicable legal, regulatory and tax obligations.
We will only send you marketing communications by email, SMS or push notification where you have consented, and you may opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link, in-app settings, or by contacting us.
6. Legal Basis for Processing
We only process your Personal Data where we have a lawful basis to do so, which will be one or more of the following:
- Consent — where you have given consent for a specific purpose;
- Performance of our contractual obligations — where processing is necessary to provide the service you have requested, for example matching you with a service partner and processing payment;
- Legal obligation — where we must use your data to comply with a legal or regulatory requirement;
- Vital interests — where processing is necessary to protect your safety or the safety of others, for example during a trip-safety incident;
- Legitimate interests — where processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as fraud prevention, service improvement and platform security, provided this is not overridden by your rights.
7. Security of Personal Data
We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your Personal Data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or destruction, including encryption of payment data in transit, access controls, and masked-number calling between customers and service partners.
No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Disclosure of Your Personal Data
We may share your Personal Data with:
- service partners (drivers, riders, couriers or vendors), to the extent necessary to fulfil your orders, including your name, pickup/drop-off location, and a masked contact number;
- payment processors, banks and financial institutions, to process transactions;
- identity-verification, mapping, analytics, cloud-hosting and customer-support service providers acting on our instructions;
- any member of our corporate group, including subsidiaries and our ultimate holding company;
- regulators, law-enforcement or governmental authorities, where required by law or to investigate suspected illegal activity, fraud or a safety incident;
- a third party in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, in which case Personal Data may be one of the transferred assets.
We do not sell your Personal Data to third parties. Where we transfer Personal Data outside Nigeria, we will only do so to a country with an adequate level of data protection, or subject to appropriate safeguards permitted under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
9. Where We Store Your Personal Data
Personal Data we collect is stored on servers located in Nigeria and/or with reputable cloud-hosting providers, which may process data outside Nigeria under contractual safeguards consistent with applicable data protection law.
By submitting your Personal Data, you agree to this storage and processing. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is handled securely and in accordance with this Policy.
10. Retention of Personal Data
We retain your Personal Data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy — including maintaining your account, completing transactions, resolving disputes, complying with tax and regulatory record-keeping obligations, and enforcing our agreements — unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
11. Your Rights as a Data Subject
- the right to be informed about how your Personal Data is processed;
- the right to access a copy of the Personal Data we hold about you;
- the right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data;
- the right to request deletion of your Personal Data, subject to legal and contractual retention requirements;
- the right to data portability, i.e. to receive your Personal Data in a structured, commonly used format;
- the right to object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing;
- the right to withdraw consent at any time; and
- the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (“NDPC”).

To exercise any of these rights, contact our Data Protection Officer at Legal@c-ride.co. Where we do not act on your request, we will inform you within the statutory period of the reasons and of your right to complain to the NDPC.
12. Data Breach / Privacy Violation
In the event of a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, or unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, your Personal Data, we shall notify the Nigeria Data Protection Commission within 72 (seventy-two) hours of becoming aware of the breach, where required by law.
We will also inform affected users of the breach, the associated risk, and the steps taken or recommended to mitigate that risk.
13. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected Personal Data from a child, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for legal, regulatory or operational reasons.
Material changes will be notified through the app or by email, and the “Last updated” date at the top of this Policy will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
